James D. Lewis, MD, MSCE, professor of medicine and epidemiology and associate director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, has been awarded a Sherman Prize for his work optimizing IBD therapy and exploring novel treatments. Eva Szigethy, MD, Ph.D., co-director of the UPMC Total Care-IBD Program and associate professor of psychiatry, medicine and pediatrics in the department of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, has been awarded a Sherman Prize for her work pioneering the integration of behavioral health into IBD treatment. Lea Ann Chen, MD, assistant professor of medicine, NYU School of Medicine and attending physician, NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, has been awarded the Sherman Emerging Leader Prize for her work as a physician-scientist studying IBD in diverse populations, with a focus on improving care for underserved communities.
